Belotero Balance® is used to smooth fine to moderate facial lines and wrinkles. This includes periorbital lines (“crow’s feet”), vertical lines on the forehead (“frown lines”), and nasolabial folds (wrinkles from the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth). Belotero Balance® can also be used to round your cheekbones and add fullness to your lips. Belotero Balance® was FDA approved in 2011.
How does Belotero Balance® work?
Belotero Balance® is a smooth, flexible product that is made from hyaluronic acid in a proprietary gel. Belotero Balance® is created using the Cohesive Polydensified Matrix (CPM) technology. The CPM technology creates a very smooth and elastic product that, when injected, leaves skin looking smooth and natural.
What are the advantages of Belotero Balance?
Belotero Balance® has a very soft consistency that integrates well with your skin. When Belotero Balance® is injected into the skin, the hyaluronic acid attracts and binds to water molecules. Since each molecule can hold 1,000 times its weight in water, using Belotero Balance® can create plump, more youthful looking skin. Belotero Balance® is gradually degraded by the body’s own mechanism and disappears without any residue. The smooth composition of Belotero Balance® results in a low risk of granulomas forming under the skin following injections.
How is Belotero Balance® administered?
Belotero Balance® is administered using a fine needle. Your face is numbed using a topical numbing cream. It is important to use a health care provider with the training and experience to inject fillers in a way that flatters your face and does not look overdone.
Who is a good candidate for Belotero Balance®?
Patients must be over 21-years-old, in good health and have reasonable expectations for the procedure. Belotero Balance® cannot be used if you have a bleeding disorder, are pregnant or are breastfeeding. If you have a skin infection (such as a cold sore, pimple or rash), you must wait until it is healed. Belotero is not appropriate for patients with certain food allergies or allergies to gram-positive bacterial proteins. During the week before your procedure, you must avoid taking medications and supplements that prolong bleeding.
How long does Belotero Balance® last?
Belotero Balance® generally lasts six months or more.
Can Belotero Balance® be combined with other fillers and procedures?
Absolutely! During your consultation, Dr. Tansavatdi will discuss your aesthetic goals and how to best achieve the look you desire. Many of our Westlake Village facial plastic surgery patients choose to combine Belotero Balance® with other procedures to create a more youthful, rested appearance.
