Lip Augmentation Surgery for Westlake Village & Thousand Oaks – Dr. Kristina Tansavatdi
Also serving Thousand Oaks, Agoura Hills, Simi Valley, Malibu, Calabasas and Santa Barbara
Although the lips can be temporarily enhanced with injectables, some patients prefer permanent results. Dr. Tansavatdi, a leading Westlake facial plastic surgeon, offers lip implants that are placed in the upper and/or lower lips to plump, lift, and provide a more attractive appearance. The patient’s own fat (from another area of the body) can be harvested to create a filler for the lips; however, in most cases tube-shaped synthetic implants are used. After a close exam, Dr. Tansavatdi will help you decide which type of lip implant is best for you.
What Can Our Thousand Oaks Lip Augmentation Surgery Accomplish?
Lip implant surgery can give you attractive, fuller lips that feel and look completely natural. This procedure is excellent for patients who are self-conscious about their thin lips. The lip implants do not shrink over time and are not absorbed by the body, thereby offering permanent, luscious results.
Lip Augmentation Candidates
Prior to surgery, Dr. Tansavatdi closely examines each patient to determine how much lip plumping is necessary to achieve excellent, yet natural results. She then determines the size and shape of the implants, which also depend on the patient’s own aesthetic desires. Lip augmentation candidates must be in good general health. Preoperative testing and medical history screening helps Dr. Tansavatdi determine each patient’s candidacy for this procedure
How Is Lip Augmentation Surgery Performed?
Lip implants are generally placed under local anesthesia or mild sedation. To place the implants, Dr. Tansavatdi makes small incisions on the inside of the lips at the corners of the mouth. The implants are then secured in place and the incisions are closed with sutures. During the procedure, Dr. Tansavatdi may adjust the size and/or placement of the implants to achieve the desired result.
Recovering From Lip Augmentation Surgery
After lip implant surgery, patients will be limited in what and when they are able to eat. A special diet comprised of liquids and soft foods is recommended for the first week. Bruising, swelling and mild discomfort are temporary and normal. Lip augmentation patients generally achieve full recovery within one week, but are able to return to work and other daily activities within 24 to 48 hours of the procedure.
