Advantages of Restylane Lyft

Restylane® Lyft is used to restore volume to the face and to reduce deep wrinkles. It is FDA approved to add fullness to the cheeks and to smooth nasolabial folds, a.k.a. “smile lines”. The particle size in Restylane Lyft makes it ideal for increasing volume in the mid-face and for reducing deep wrinkles. Because Restylane Lyft contains the local anesthetic lidocaine, injections are more comfortable for patients. Restylane Lyft is not derived from animal sources, so does not cause allergic reactions in patients who are sensitive to beef, chicken, or eggs.

How does Restylane Lyft work?

Restylane Lyft contains hyaluronic acid, which is a natural polysaccharide (sugar molecule) that occurs in the body. As we age, the hyaluron in our body—which provides strength and hydration—decreases. This is why cheeks become more hollow and creases form around our nose.

When Restylane Lyft is injected into the skin, the hyaluronic acid attracts and binds to water molecules. Since each molecule can hold 1,000 times its weight in water, using Restylane can create plump, more youthful-looking cheeks.

Restylane is gradually degraded by the body’s own mechanism and disappears without any residue.

The particles used in Restylane Lyft are larger than in other Restylane products, so they are a very effective way to volumize the cheeks and smooth deep wrinkles. Some studies show that Restylane Lyft will increase the body’s collagen production, meaning that wrinkles may naturally improve as a result of the product.

Ideal Restylane Lyft candidates

Restylane Lyft is ideal for patients who are dissatisfied with hollow cheeks and smile lines. Patients must be over 21 years old, in good health, and have reasonable expectations for the procedure. Restylane Lyft cannot be used if you have a bleeding disorder, are pregnant, or are breastfeeding. If you have a skin infection (such as a cold sore, pimple, or rash), you must wait until it is healed before Restylane Lyft can be administered. During the week before your procedure, you must avoid taking medications and supplements that prolong bleeding.

How is Restylane Lyft administered?

Restylane Lyft is administered using a fine needle or cannula. Your face is numbed using a topical numbing cream. The product contains a local anesthetic to make the experience more comfortable.

Injections can take up to 30 minutes. It is important to use a health care provider with the training and experience to inject fillers in a way that flatters your face and does not look overdone.

Combining Restylane Lyft with other fillers and procedures

During your consultation, Dr. Tansavatdi will discuss your aesthetic goals and how to achieve the look you desire. Many of our Westlake Village facial plastic surgery patients choose to combine Restylane Lyft with other procedures to create a more youthful, rested appearance.

How long does Restylane Lyft last?

Restylane Lyft may last up to one year.
