What Is Morpheus RF Microneedling?

Morpheus 8 in Thousand Oaks and Westlake Village is an FDA-approved, minimally invasive device that utilizes radiofrequency (RF) energy combined with cutting-edge technology to deliver that energy through ultra-fine needles to help renew your skin. The Morpheus microneedling device helps remodel the old collagen in your skin and stimulates the formation of new, healthy collagen fibers to tighten the skin, leading to smoother, more beautiful skin. The Morpheus device emits radio frequency (RF) energy through 24 silicone-coated pins during the microneedling treatment, which applies heat to add thermal injury on top of the micro-injuries from the needles in order to further tighten and renew the skin and result in reduced wrinkles, scars, and other skin concerns.

The face and body can also be contoured through precise control of the needle depth to allow the energy to be delivered to the fat beneath the skin, thereby heating the underlying tissues and resulting in a more youthful shape and contour to the face, jawline, and body. Since the energy is delivered only through the tips of the coated pins, the overlying skin is not thermally damaged, which leads to faster healing times.

What Skin Concerns Does Morpheus RF Microneedling Improve?

This treatment can be used on a wide variety of skin concerns and on a number of parts of the body, in addition to the face. Morpheus treatments are most popular for the face, jawline, and neck, but can be applied to almost any area with sagging and loose skin, wrinkles, scarring, or similar skin problems. Morpheus can address the following skin issues:

What Can I Expect During the Procedure?

Although the treatment can be comfortably performed in the office, experiences may vary. We will provide a topical anesthetic before your procedure for your comfort. Our team will develop a plan for the depth and level of your treatment based on your goals and concerns before your procedure. From this plan, we will determine whether additional anesthetic injections are needed to numb larger areas in order to minimize any discomfort. We may also use a breathing device called Pro-NoxTM that delivers blended oxygen and nitrous oxide gas to provide added comfort. Once the topical numbing cream and any additional measures added for your comfort are in place, the handpiece will be applied and moved over the targeted areas.

The fine needles will penetrate to create micro-injuries, and the RF energy will be delivered through the needles. A cooling device may be simultaneously used during the treatment by an assistant to minimize any discomfort. Once the treatment is complete, active topical ingredients like platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or platelet-rich fibrin matrix (PRFM) may also be applied for increased benefits, as after microneedling, they can be absorbed more deeply into the skin. Your treatment may take thirty minutes up to one hour or more, depending on the number of areas being treated, the depth of treatment, and the comprehensive nature of the treatment. We recommend at least 3 treatments to achieve optimal results.

Morpheus RF Microneedling Aftercare

There is minimal downtime to worry about after your RF microneedling treatment. You may see small, pinpoint dark scabs a few days after treatment and slight redness for up to one week. You may also experience some swelling and bruising, although this is usually short in duration.

You can expect to return to your usual routine and activities the following day, but you may want to keep the skin unoccluded without makeup for the first 1-3 days to let the skin heal. The skin can become sensitive after a treatment like this, and it is best to use moisturizers without any chemicals or fragrances for the first 1-3 days.

You will want to avoid exercising for the first 48 hours after this procedure to avoid sweat and dirt from clogging the pores and to avoid acne breakouts. Be sure to keep the treatment area or areas well moisturized, and avoid direct sun exposure and heat. Use sunscreen daily.

How Soon Should I Expect to See the Results From My Microneedling Treatment?

You may begin to see results a few days after your treatment. However, since the body will be breaking down and rebuilding the structure and elasticity of the skin, it will take several weeks for the results to fully appear. Within about four to six weeks, you may start to notice improvement.

However, depending on the degree of initial skin laxity, it may take up to three sessions or more for others to see improvements. These results will continue to improve for up to three months as your body continues to build collagen.
