How Do Forma and Forma Plus Work?

Forma and Forma Plus stimulate collagen production, making skin smoother and more elastic. The first part of the treatment is applying a cool, conductive gel to the treated area. Next, Dr. Kristina Tansavatdi uses a hand-held device to gently massage your skin and allow the heat to penetrate deep below your skin’s surface. The combination of the conductive gel and radiofrequency heat promotes collagen production, restoring a tighter, more youthful look to your skin. Both Forma and Forma Plus use the same technology. However, Forma uses a smaller, more contoured head that is designed specifically for your face and neck.

What Areas of the Body Can Forma and Forma Plus Treat?

Forma is used for skin on the face to treat forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet, marionette lines, crepe-like lower eyelid skin, malar bags, wrinkles around the mouth, jowls, and loose skin on the neck. Forma Plus is used to treat saggy skin on the arms, midsection, inner thighs, outer thighs, elbows, and knees.

How Long Do Forma and Forma Plus Treatments Take?

Your appointment time is typically an hour; however, it will vary depending on the number of areas being treated. For optimal success, Dr. Tansavatdi recommends weekly treatments for six to eight weeks. At your consultation, Dr. Tansavatdi will explain the length of your appointment, the number of treatments needed, and when maintenance sessions will be required.

How Safe Are Forma and Forma Plus?

Forma and Forma Plus are extremely safe when administered by a qualified plastic surgeon such as Dr. Tansavatdi. The procedure is based on a proprietary method of delivering radiofrequency energy called A.C.E. (Acquire, Control, and Extend). The Forma and Forma Plus technologies include a built-in sensor that monitors your skin temperature 1,000 times per second. This technology ensures your skin reaches the optimal temperature for collagen production and activates a cut-off switch if your skin temperature is too high. Forma and Forma Plus do not use lasers and are safe for all skin types.

Frequently Asked Questions Forma Skin Tightening

How should I prepare for my Forma or Forma Plus treatment?

No significant preparation is required. Arriving with clean skin free of heavy products or makeup supports the most effective treatment experience. Dr. Tansavatdi's team will provide any specific pre-treatment instructions relevant to your treatment plan at the time of your booking.

Is there anything I should avoid after a Forma or Forma Plus treatment?

Most patients can return to normal activities immediately. However, avoiding excessive heat exposure, such as saunas or hot showers, for the first 24 hours following treatment supports the most comfortable post-treatment experience as any mild skin flushing resolves.

Can Forma be used on patients who have had facial fillers or wrinkle reducers?

Yes. Forma is generally safe to use alongside injectable treatments. However, the timing and sequencing of treatments matter. Dr. Tansavatdi's team will review your injectable history during your consultation and recommend a safe order and spacing for your treatments.

Is Forma appropriate for patients who are considering surgery in the future?

Yes. Many patients use Forma as part of a longer-term skin health plan that may eventually include surgical procedures. Non-surgical treatments like Forma can support skin quality and delay the need for surgery, or complement surgical results over time.

How does Forma differ from Morpheus RF microneedling?

Both use radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen, but Morpheus combines radiofrequency with microneedling to penetrate more deeply into the tissue. Forma works on the skin's surface layers without needles. Dr. Tansavatdi's team will recommend the most appropriate option for your skin concerns.
