How is non-surgical lip enhancement performed?

You will be very comfortable during your lip filler treatment. Dr. Tansavatdi will begin by cleansing your skin and applying numbing cream. She may also use a local anesthetic (called a lip block) to provide additional comfort. She will then carefully inject the filler into your lips and the surrounding area.

How does non-surgical lip enhancement work?

As we age, the hyaluron in our body—which provides strength and hydration—decreases. Collagen also decreases in the skin. This is why, as we get older, our lips become thinner and lines form around our mouth. Restylane Silk and Juvederm Volbella contain hyaluronic acid, which is a natural polysaccharide (sugar molecule) that occurs in the body. 

When Restylane Silk or Juvederm Volbella is injected into the lips, the hyaluronic acid attracts and binds to water molecules. Since each molecule can hold 1,000 times its weight in water, these fillers create plump, more youthful looking lips. Hyaluronic acid is gradually degraded by the body’s own mechanism and disappears without any residue.

Restylane Silk and Juvederm Volbella are composed of smaller and smoother particles than other fillers, which allows Dr. Tansavatdi to precisely shape your lips using a very fine needle. Patients are typically thrilled with the outcome, and are very pleased to avoid the recovery time that comes along with lip-enhancing surgical procedures.

Non-surgical lip enhancement recovery and results

Recovery from non-surgical lip enhancement is immediate, and you can return to your daily activities right away after the appointment. You may experience mild bruising at the injection site, but any discomfort should be minimal. Non-surgical lip enhancement results can last up to a year; however, maintenance injections are recommended for continued optimal results.
