Neck Lift in Malibu

Over time, the skin in the neck loses its elasticity, giving way to sagging and wrinkling. Vertical neck bands form and an excess of fatty tissue accumulates beneath the chin. Whether caused by aging, genetics, sun damage, or weight loss, these changes in one’s appearance can be distressing. A surgical neck lift can strategically correct ailing musculature, tighten loose skin, and smooth out wrinkles to deliver a more youthful, attractive profile. A neck lift with Dr. Tansavatdi produces natural-looking results that complement your features and replenish your self-confidence.

What is a neck lift?

A neck lift is a surgical procedure that can help reverse the signs of aging in the neck, such as skin laxity, muscle banding, and wrinkles, folds, and creases. Overall it can create a more youthful and inviting appearance, giving you a new, more positive self-image. The incisions are well-hidden behind the ears within the scalp or beneath the chin. The doctor will remove excess fatty tissue and skin while tightening loosened neck muscles.

Liposuction may be combined with your neck lift to produce smoother, more streamlined contours with a more well-defined jawline. Neck lift surgery is often paired with a facelift or blepharoplasty to comprehensively transform the appearance and pause the clock on facial aging. Neck lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia or IV sedation and is considered an outpatient procedure.

What are the benefits of a neck lift?

Who is a good candidate for a neck lift?

If you have a buildup of sagging skin, troublesome fat, and loose muscles in the neck, a neck lift may be the ideal procedure for your goals. Good candidates are mentally and physically healthy and have no major medical concerns that would compromise their recovery or results. They are non-smokers who have a positive and realistic outlook on their surgery, based on a private consultation with Dr. Tansavatdi at her office.

What can I expect from my recovery?

After surgery, you may experience some mild numbness, swelling, bruising, and discomfort. These are all normal side effects of your neck lift surgery; they will fade within a matter of days, typically 10-14. You may be asked to wear a compression garment and you may have small drains placed to help move excess fluids and blood out of the body after your treatment.

The doctor will make sure you are comfortable with prescription pain medications. Clients can usually return to work within about 2 weeks, but should continue to avoid heavy lifting, strenuous sports and exercise, and swimming for at least 6 weeks.
