Dr. Kristina Tansavatdieyes, face, lips, nose, skin, Vlog

Hi there, Dr. Tansavatdi here. I recorded actually two videos prior to this. I want to go back to this question that I get from a lot of my patients and that is, “what can I do about the aging process?” I had surgery, I’ve done the face lift. I look better now, but how can I prevent the aging signs from continuing? How do I stop the process or lengthen the process before I’m aging quickly here? So, I did talk about sleep and diet last time. I didn’t go into too much detail. Just kind of shallowly got into those two topics. I wanted to stress about sleep and recap that you want to have at least 7-8 hours a night and it sounds like everybody knows that. Everybody knows that to be true, you need to get more sleep. But that common knowledge isn’t common practice. I even have trouble in my own daily life to get that 7 hours of quality sleep per night. So there are resources that can help you. One thing that I didn’t mention in my last video is a book that I’ve been reading and have really gotten a lot … Read More

Combat Aging (Part 2)

So in my last video I stopped at the part talking about the importance of health and how that affects your skin and I had talked about sleep because it gives you enough energy. It also fuels your brain to restore itself during your sleeping hours. Now I’m going to talk about a second part to health and that is related to diet. What foods you put in your body to fuel your body. We forget, actually, our Western diet has a lot of foods that create inflammation and the basis of inflammation is that it creates more damage to the DNA, damages the cells and that’s what’s going to create more aging processes to our skin. So, how do we prevent the aging process? I’m not trying to say this is the Fountain of Youth, but I’m trying to say what can you do to prevent the aging from accelerating and so one of the key factors is what foods you choose in your diet. The biggest one is that a lot of people use- they want to get a lot of protein. We’re high in protein right now. Everybody say “lots of protein, because you should be … Read More

What to Expect After Lower Eyelid Surgery

More About Eyelid Surgery – Contact Dr. Kristina Tansavatdi  What to Expect After Lower Eyelid Surgery The results of lower eyelid surgery are rewarding, taking years of aging off the face. Despite knowing what surgery can do to rejuvenate the eyes, most people are often hesitant to pursue eyelid surgery. The reasons include a concern for changes in vision, change to your overall look, longer than expected recovery making it hard to hide from the public, and dealing with any unexpected consequences after surgery. One of the most common questions I receive in consultation about surgery is what changes to expect. So what can you expect after lower eyelid surgery? First, the healing process depends on the type of approach that is used. Inside Lower Eyelid Approach The inside lower eyelid approach (Trans-conjunctival Blepharoplasty) removes eye bags using an incision made through the conjunctiva. The conjunctiva is the pink moist layer inside the lower eyelid that is visible when you pull the eyelid down. Removing eye bags through the conjunctiva eliminates visible scarring on the outside of the eyelid. The incision is hidden and bruising and swelling is usually minimized compared to the outside technique. Outside Lower Eyelid Technique … Read More

Non-surgical Facial Rejuvenation: Alternatives to Surgery

Dr. Kristina Tansavatdieyes, face, lips, nose

As plastic and reconstructive surgery becomes more common, patients are seeking different ways to rejuvenate their face with less invasive procedures. Not everyone is ready to commit to undergoing aggressive surgery in order to look younger or freshen up their appearance. Dealing with the discomfort and downtime from a surgical procedure such as a facelift or blepharoplasty can be intimidating, while non-surgical options can be performed with much less downtime and will cost less than surgery. In recent years, there have been many advances in facial rejuvenation. So what are some of the alternatives to getting surgery that can keep your face looking bright and fresh? Here are the most popular options I see in my practice:   Botox® and other dermal fillers: From recent statistics gathered by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons**, Botox® was the top procedure performed in the last year. In 2012, over 6 million Botox® injections were reported, and that number is on the rise. Botox® and other dermal fillers are a great way to rejuvenate the face without the need for major surgery, and the recovery time for injectables is minimal compared to surgical options. The best part about Botox® and dermal fillers … Read More
